The computer is a Mac Powerbook G4, purchased in December 2003. It began acting bizarre and shutting down or freezing with a black screen (with odd fonts and numbers), and many times was unable to wake up from "standby" mode. MK4018GAS Failure: no drive detected

The computer had been left on. Returned to hear loud noises and blue screen. Turned off. After that, when try to boot, never got past "Toshiba" screen, but no odd noises from disk. Local repair shop said seriously damaged and they could not recover any data.
