Not ready reading drive C: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS, error message

Computer crashed while I was using web browser, then computer would not reboot. It hung up on an error message saying that some file in Windows was missing. Could not get restarted. Took computer to CompUSA. They tried to save my data, but could not, I had them installed the new hard drive and given me the old one back.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3400833A - Lost data recovery required

system crash during de-fragmentation
- upon restart, blue screen UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
- was instructed by Dell tech support to run chkdsk repair from bootable CD, which ran for 2h but gave up at 25% complete, saying 'unrecoverable errors'
- drive now looks 'RAW' to OS
- stopped listening to Dell tech support and decided to send you the drive
