The computer froze, after rebooting the clicking clunking sound from the hard drive. Did not try anything, as thought it could make more damage to the disk. Took the drive to the computer repair, they could not do much either, said the heads issue - recommended data recovery. Recover data from a SP1203N crashed hard drive

The drive is recognized by the BIOS, some folders can not be accessed. We get an I/O error or eplorer.exe error when we try to access particular folders. Recovery attempts were to hang the drive as a slave off of others computers and to try an external USB connection.
