The green power light comes on, the disk spins up, makes the usual access type noises, then nothing happens; disk keeps spinning (no strange noises. The amber access light comes on and/or goes off, depending on how/when I
plug in the Firewire cable.

Used RegistryBot and my and this hard drive were causing the system to run extremely slow and one partition was not accessible. I have not really tried any recovery programs as it took awhile to discover the problem was the hard drive and not my other hard drive which contains my operating system Windows XP Professional.
