The drive in question was set as a slave drive. The operator system on the Primary drive had to be reinstalled. The slave drive was removed from the computer and the Primary drive was formatted when the operating system was reinstalled. The slave drive was then put back into the machine and the operating system only saw the drive as having a capacity of 120GB. Because of the errors we decided all of the data off of the slave drive. The files were put onto an external drive. After verifying that the files were readable on the external drive we deleted them from the slave drive. We then decided to copy the two main directories. This is when the folders appeared empty...

Failure Description: Growl from drive once. Shutdown OS. Primary drive not able to be recognized on next reboot.
Recover Attempted: Local Corporate PC Lab tried to spin up drive. Would not spin up. Froze drive and reattempted spin up - drive would spin up partially, before spinning down. Ended their attempt at that point.

- The PC was shutdown and when it was restarted it would not boot up. The secondary drive was removed and the primary drive booted into the OS with no problems. I moved the drive to another machine and noticed the drive was not spinning or making any noise on power up. I checked the power cables in both PCs and different IDE cables as well. The drive would not power up in either machine. I suspect that something has happened to the circuit board and the data is intact.
- No actions to alter the drive were made
